    Whither U.S. Manufacturing Jobs?

    The creation of 50,000 factory jobs in January, though heartening, belies the long-term downtrend in manufacturing employment. Within a few years, the downtrend is likely to reassert itself, and by 2015 or so, over 90% of U.S. jobs will be service based. As this week's Kiplinger Letter points out, that's not all bad news.
