PERSONAL FINANCE WRITER

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, a national magazine that has been advising consumers and investors for more than 60 years, seeks an enthusiastic and ambitious associate editor.

Applicants should have five to ten years of experience writing about retirement and retirement planning as well as other financial topics, including taxes, credit, banking, and investing, for Web sites, newspapers or magazines.

We seek an individual who can write practical, easy-to-understand articles geared toward individuals and families. Articles will appear both in the magazine and on our Kiplinger.com Web site. Preference will be given to applicants willing to locate to the Washington, DC, area to work in our downtown offices.

ASSISTANT ART DIRECTOR

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, the leading independent magazine of personal finance, seeks an Assistant Art Director. The Assistant Art Director will collaborate with the Art Director to deliver a vision for each issue, while providing style consistency and production precision over time. The job includes designing editorial pages for all sections of the magazine, conceptualizing packages from start to finish. The candidate should have excellent typographic and design skills, a knack for infographics, be well organized and feel comfortable working with editors in a deadline-oriented environment. As we move into Digital Publishing, this position will be key to the development of execution of Kiplinger apps.

JOB REQUIREMENTS—

  • 4-6 years magazine experience
  • Mastery of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • A combination of print and digital experience is ideal, and experience with Adobe’s Digital Publishing software a distinct advantage.

Detail oriented and highly motivated, with an ability to conceptualize ideas and work closely with editors, photo editors and other designers. Skilled in assigning illustration. A talent for juggling multiple tasks and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment is key.

Salary commensurate with experience.
