QUESTION: Are electric powered golf carts which are street legal eligible for any tax credits in 2008?  It was placed in service Oct 1, 2008.  Thank you.

PETER BLANK ANSWERS:
No.

The credit for plug-in vehicles starts for vehicles bought after 2008.  Individual states may allow credits, though.

Will a street legal low-speed electric vehicle (can be used as a golf cart) qualify for the $5,300 2009 tax credit? Vehicle will be used for business only (i.e. drive thru weddings). Thanks.

Is there a timeline on this credit? Does it have to be purchased before Jan 1, 2010?

If a tax-credit eligible vehicle is purchased in '09 but not delivered until after Jan.1 '10, is it still eligible for the '09 credit?
